Our Story –
The Grand Dewachen-Kaza, A Part Of The Dewachen Group is A Pioneer In Hospitality In The Remote Lands Of Spiti. Mr Rajender Bodh, The Proprietor and A Man Of Limitless Energy Started to Build This Place in 2006, Keeping The Age Old Traditional Ways Alive. The Architecture Is Essentially Spitian Style With Ramped Earth Walls & Wooden Furnishing. The Thick Mud Walls Act As Good Insulator Against The Harsh Climate Of Spiti. The Wood Used For The Ceiling Is All Recycled Plywood Waste From Yamuna Nagar. A Distinguishing Feature Of This Hotel Is The Greenhouse Roof Designed By An Italian Architect Which Does A Remarkable Job Of Trapping Heat Inside The Building, Thus Keeping It Warm And Reducing Dependency On Artificial Heating. As The Building Is 75 Percent Mud, It Is Prone To Minute Cracks That Are Visible Sometimes And Are Repaired With Ease.
The Hotel Opened Its Doors To The World In 2011 And Since Then Has Stood Apart In Terms Of Exceptional Service.
